Just questions to ponder. No need to post a response. We are living in The last days. One of the signs is that men Would become lovers of selves more than lovers of God. A self-examination of your priorities can help reveal where your heart lies. For where your treasure is there your heart will be also. Matt 6:21 what do you give to God financially? Do you give tithes and offerings or make excuses for not giving and use the money elsewhere? What does your giving reveal about your love for God? Be honest. What do you do with your time? Do you make spending time with God a top priority, or do complain that you don’t have time to pray and read your Bible? If God looked at your life and measured what you love most by the things you dedicate your time to, what would He say? what do you do to serve others? By looking at your life, would God say that your actions prove you are more devoted to your own needs and interests, or that your life demonstrates you are in love with God’s church? When you pray, what do you pray about? Do you pray about yourself only, or do you pray for the needs and dreams of others? If God were to give a report about the things He hears you pray about, would He report that you are an unselfish person who’s concerned about the needs of others, or would He report that you are only concerned about yourself? what personal sacrifices do you make to serve the Lord? If God opened the books to reveal the sacrifices you have made for Him or others, would the record reveal that you care deeply for God and live in obedience to His commands, or would it show that you are unwilling to inconvenience your life in any way or sacrifice any of your private plans? What do your spending habits reveal about you? Would God say the Gospel is most important to you, or would he say that your spending habits reveal that your driving motivation in life is simply pursuing comfort and pleasure? what are you sacrificing to be obedient to God? Is there anything you are laying down in order to walk in obedience to God and His word? Would God say your life reveals that you are willing to take up your cross to do what He asks of you, or that you do everything you can to avoid letting anyone or anything inconvenience you? what does your lifestyle reveal about your priorities? Does your lifestyle reveal that you love entertainment, pleasure, comfort, and happiness the most? Are you consumed with yourself and your own needs and offer no service to anyone else if it requires you to sacrifice your time, energy, or comfort? If God were to comment on your lifestyle would He say that it is dedicated to Him and to fulfilling His plan? Examine yourselves whether ye be in the faith, prove your own selves….. 2 Corinthians 13:5 Sparkling Gems From The Greek Volume II, July 18.

Heavenly Father, I pray that you will forgive me for everything that I have done wrong. Lord help me to forgive anyone who may have hurt me and help anyone that I may have hurt or upset to forgive me. Lord, help me to love others and do what You want me to do. Lord, help my family to be happy and love one another and not be sad or mad at each other. Dear Lord, please take care of my loved ones and protect and love them as they care for me. Please show my family how much You love them and that you will always be there for them. Teach us Lord to always come to You in prayer. Lord, I pray for every member of my family and all of my friends to accept You into their hearts. Lord Jesus, heal the sick so they will live a long, happy and healthy life. Lord, keep every member of my family, principals, teachers, friends, classmates, and pets safe from any harm or evil. Help me Lord to get good grades in school. Lord, please protect the President, and all the leaders of our country and state, and their families. Lord, keep our pastors, firemen, policemen, and all the soldiers, safe as they do their jobs. I pray for the poor and hungry that they will receive food so they won't go to bed hungry tonight. Send people to help them and give them a place to sleep, and if they are sick please make them well and feel better. Lord I pray for the sick in the hospitals and prisons, please heal them, and tell them about Your Son, Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus, I ask you to bless everyone that I have prayed for today and send Your mighty angels to protect all of us and keep us safe. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen from the little red prayer book

People wear masks to hide who they are because they don’t want you to know their identity. Not all masks are physical masks. People are wearing a figurative mask to hide how they really feel on the inside (hurt, pain, shame, loneliness) the list can go on and on. The person wants to be free but remains in bondage because they wear a mask. Is whatever going on on the inside of you reflected on the outside? Or are you wearing a mask? Are your private thoughts reflected in how you see people, life circumstances and yourself? Or are you wearing a mask? When someone asks, How are you doing? Do you give the expected response, I’m blessed or fine? When in reality your spirit is in sorrow. Instead of being honest, and say I need help; a hug, or I need to talk, you stay in bondage not living the life that God has available to you. Life can be hard and very difficult at times and our spirits go into a low place. We say we know Jesus and yet we find it hard to be open and transparent and cast all of cares on him even the ones we try to hide from people. The problem is the Holy Spirit is a discerner of the heart and mind. It’s time to take the mask off. perhaps you thought you had, only to realize it’s still on. How do you break free from this bondage? Confession, Lord I need thee Hebrews 4:12-13; Job 34:21; Psalms 33:13-15; Jeremiah 17:9-10 by CJ

You finally think you have them all figured out, and then they do something that totally lets you down and blows your mind! You never would have dreamed in a million years that they’d do something so crazy or inconsistent. That’s why you have to learn how to overcome the temptation to take offense or get upset every time someone disappoints or lets you down. You’ll enjoy life much more if you learn to forgive and overlook people’s inconsistencies, lack of commitment, unfaithfulness, temper tantrums, and mood swings — as well as all the other defects that are part of being human. If you’re going to get “bent out of shape” and lose your peace every time someone says or does something below what you expect of them, you will live your life constantly bothered, upset, and frustrated. Rather than focus on the inconsistencies and flaws of others, why not look in the mirror and let the Holy Spirit deal with you about the areas you need to change? It may be that God is using the people you think have done you wrong to expose a weakness in your own character that needs to change. Let God’s Spirit teach you how to overcome those exposed faults. As Christians, we must learn how to allow the fruit of the Spirit to operate in us regardless of the situation. When our relationships with others are going great — when we have no challenges, no problems, and no conflicts with anyone — it’s not difficult to be kind, loving, longsuffering, and easy to get along with. The real proof of spiritual maturity isn’t measured by the moments when our flesh is comfortable; it is revealed when we run into a situation that rubs our flesh the wrong way! But what if you’re dealing with serious offenses and hurts in your relationships? What if you’ve been abused, betrayed, or deserted by your spouse, stabbed in the back by fellow church members, or rejected by your parents, family, or friends? If you’ve experienced any of these hurtful situations, you know how the devil can try to use such an event to debilitate you. But it’s time to move on and let the past be the past. If you carry wounds, bruises, and scars from previous hurts and offenses, you don’t have to carry them anymore. You don’t have to live with the residual effect of what the devil did to you in the past. If you have harbored unhealthy attitudes, you must allow them to be recognized, uprooted, and removed by the Spirit of God. Otherwise, they will begin to produce vile fruit that has the power to socially isolate you and emotionally immobilize you. Bitterness, resentment, and unforgiveness become like a terminal disease when left untended, eventually eating away at your insides, turning you bitter, and destroying every relationship in your life. In every one of these situations I’ve described, God will make a way for you to escape negative emotions and killer attitudes if you really want to escape them. First Corinthians 10:13 says, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” So this is what you can know: In every situation where you face the temptation to take offense at someone’s words or actions, you are the only one who can make the choice to jump through that escape hatch. The moment you make that decision, your journey to freedom has begun! If you’ll say yes to the Lord, He will show you how to get out of your mess! You can avoid, evade, dodge, elude, shake off, get out of, and break away from every temptation to take offense. You never have to get dragged into destructive emotions, feelings, and attitudes. So today the Lord is asking: “Are you going to stay upset and offended, or are you willing to take the proper steps to escape from this emotional temptation and demonic trap? Are you ready to give up all unforgiveness and lay it at the foot of the Cross so you can walk free? Or do you want to continue clinging to resentment and turmoil, held hostage by spiritually, mentally, and physically crippling attitudes?” What is your answer? What are you going to do? God is waiting for you to decide, because you definitely have the option to receive the freedom He is offering you and to walk into a broad, new place of abundant living with the choice you make today! MY PRAYER FOR TODAY Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You right now and repent for having given place to the devil because of hurt and offense. I see now that the enemy set a trap for me to fall into temptation. I also ask You to forgive me for judging the faults and failings of others, when in fact my own impatience and carnality were on full display by the way I responded to their behavior. I ask You, Holy Spirit, to open the eyes of my understanding and reveal to me the ways I need to change so I am not susceptible to unhealthy attitudes that would keep me socially isolated or emotionally immobilized. I choose to walk away from the devil’s traps, and I trust You to help me escape the net of temptation. I pray this in Jesus’ name! MY CONFESSION FOR TODAY I confess that I realize no one is perfect — and neither am I! I am not ignorant of the devil’s devices to destroy my relationships. Therefore, I refuse to be held hostage by crippling attitudes of negativity and disappointment when others fall short of my expectations. When I am tempted to become offended by a deliberate act of betrayal, rejection, or wrongdoing, I will look to the Holy Spirit. He is my Helper, my Strengthener, my Comforter, my Counselor, my Teacher, and my Advocate! The Holy Spirit will show me how to escape this temptation and respond according to the wisdom and the will of God. He will help me keep myself in the love of God so my faith will not fail and the devil cannot overtake me through his wiles against both me and the person who sought to do me harm. I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name! QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER 1. Can you think of a time when you were tempted to be dragged into a conflict for which there was no real solution, but the Holy Spirit told you to be quiet and let it pass? 2. If you are upset or offended, are you going to allow yourself to be dragged down by these negative mindsets, or are you willing to take the proper steps to escape from this emotional temptation and demonic trap? 3. Are you ready to give up all unforgiveness, laying it at the foot of the Cross, so you can walk free? Or do you want to continue clinging to resentment and turmoil, held hostage by spiritually, mentally, and physically crippling attitudes? Your answer is very strategic to the outcome of your life, so seriously consider this question!

Are you someone God wants to use so people’s eyes will be opened to see the truth? Maybe it’s time for you to quit praying for others to fill that role and recognize that God is asking you to be the one to share the Gospel with those who don’t know Him and bring them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ! Keep your eyes open for opportunities to help the spiritually blind see, and the Lord will accommodate you with people who are hungry to listen and ready to see! MY PRAYER FOR TODAY Father, I pray for my family, friends, loved ones, and even my enemies as You told me to do. I ask in the name of Jesus that You would open up the eyes of their understanding to Your truth and to the reality of what is taking place in the world around them. Holy Spirit, I ask You to help them turn from darkness to light so that they would abandon what’s worthless and come to know and serve You, the Living God. Holy Spirit, I also ask You to help me recognize and respond to the opportunities you bring across my path for me to be a witness for Your glory. I am not ashamed of the Gospel, and I receive Your wisdom to win souls with the right words at the right time. I pray this in Jesus’ Name! MY CONFESSION FOR TODAY I confess that I am aware I’m living in the last of the last days. Prophecy is unfolding before my eyes. The world has entered into the final chapter of history as we know it. I exalt You, Father God, and I thank You that Your Holy Word equips me with the strength and wisdom I need for the time and the age I’m living in. I choose to live soberly with eternity constantly in my view. I make the most of every opportunity to let my light shine for Christ brightly and without compromise. My lifelong desire is that others who sit in darkness will be drawn to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ through the light they see in me! I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name! I mentioned earlier this week that I feel God calling me. It’s not all clear but the more I seek after God He‘s revealing my purpose and calling. The book, The Wake-Up Call, by John Mulinde and Mark Daniel, recommended by Pastor John, in the BTV book list, is having a profound affect on me. The following is an excerpt. “The call to be set apart is not about going away for a few days of fasting and prayer. It is a call to a long-term sowing into a new lifestyle. It is a call out of one lifestyle, which looks so logical and right to other people, into another lifestyle programmed for victory and the ability to stand when others would fall or turn and run. What the nations need today is a new breed of God’s people that live their lives above the constraints that hold others back. People who have learned to despise the things that trap and hold back everyone else. People who have allowed themselves to have a dynamic encounter with God through which the Lord himself makes them vessels of honor. If you will allow yourself to start on this journey, I will work deeply in your life to do to you what you cannot do for yourself. I will change your attitude toward life. I will separate you from things that weaken your heart. And I will make you able to stand where many would just fall or give in to pressure. You will be an overcomer; then I will position you to help my people worldwide in the times ahead.” This is what I’m searching for. I want to be a vessel of honor. I can’t wait until God’s will is clear! In the meantime, I will stand still and seek His face.

As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. — Acts 13:2 Today’s Sparkling Gem, Rick Renner shares the moment God spoke to him about moving to the former USSR in the Soviet Union. It happened during his first missions Trip to the Soviet Union in 1991. He shared how torn down and broken everything was. The streets, the hotel he stayed in, shops, the people‘s clothing. “Everything I saw — simply looked either broken, exhausted, or worn out.” The next morning after our arrival, my teammates and I walked to the building where the first aboveground Bible school was being conducted — the first in more than 70 years. Two hundred and twenty students had gathered from every republic of the USSR to attend the school, and I wept when I realized this was a dream come true for them. They lifted their hands to worship, and the Spirit of God moved across the large classroom in a powerful manner. His presence was so strong. When I stood in front of that room full of young people from all over the Soviet Union to teach them for the first time, I approached the lectern to begin my first teaching session, opened my Bible, took a step back, and looked up at the room full of students eagerly looking back at me. And at that moment, I vividly heard the Holy Spirit speak loudly to my heart and say, “WELCOME TO YOUR NEW HOME!” I know the voice of the Holy Spirit, and there was no doubt in my heart or mind that it was the Spirit who had spoken these words to me. Feeling shocked by what I’d just heard, I choked up and stumbled with my words a bit. Then the Holy Spirit spoke it a second time: “WELCOME TO YOUR NEW HOME!” As I read this devotion, the tears began to fall because I feel the Holy Spirit pulling me. It’s not clearly revealed what my assignment is, but I know God is calling me. I’m eager to know. It’s something I’ve been fasting and praying about. What is my assignment? Why am I here? I don’t want to leave this earth without completing my assignment. “Saying yes to the Lord requires surrender. I’m talking about that moment when you are willing to lay down all your own plans and yield to what the Holy Spirit has revealed to you about God’s will for your life. Some people pass this test, whereas others do not. However, those who surrender, yield, and obey experience the joy, power, and victory of the Spirit. They live an enriched life filled both with opportunities to be seized and obstacles to be overcome in order to attain victory and to complete the assignment.” (SGFTG) Accepting and obeying God’s call thrust Barnabas and Paul forward into a life and ministry of divine purpose that radically affected the development and growth of the Church of Jesus Christ all over the Roman Empire. Everything Paul and Barnabas had done in ministry until that time had been nothing more than preparation for what lay ahead. Although they had spent several serious years in ministry, it was simply “getting-ready time” for the ultimate call that was before them. Today I want to encourage you to let the Lord reveal to you His plan for your life. It may be different from what you had previously thought. It is possible that everything you have done up until now has merely been preparation for a greater call before you. So open your heart and be careful to pay heed if the Holy Spirit affirms that He’s leading you to take a new direction. It could add more fruitfulness and adventure to your life than you ever dreamed possible! MY PRAYER FOR TODAY Father, I thank You for Your predetermined plan for my life — and that You want to launch me into it as soon as I’m ready. I ask You to help me prove myself faithful where I am, so I will be prepared for the call that lies ahead of me. Help me not to be stuck in my thinking — assuming that where I am is the ultimate end of what I am called to do. I ask You to open my eyes to see that great and wonderful things lie ahead of me if I will fully surrender to You! I pray this in Jesus’ name! MY CONFESSION FOR TODAY I confess that God knows the good plans He has for me. He is ordering my steps along His ordained path, and I am following the Holy Spirit’s direction to do all He is leading me to do in preparation for God’s next phase of my life. I recognize now that all I have done thus far has been preparation for the next part of His call on my life. Jesus, You said if a man is faithful in little, You will put him over much. So I declare that I will be faithful in every assignment You’ve given to me now, and I believe that You will promote me to the next phase when You have found me proven and ready. I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name! QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER 1. What are you doing right now to give yourself fully to the tasks at hand, so God will know that you are proven and ready for the job ahead of you? 2. Has God ever told you something that caught you off-guard and by surprise? If so, when was that, and what did He say? Have you followed through on what He spoke to your heart? 3. Are you doing what God has told you to do right now? Are you being faithful with the call that He’s given you? If God were asked this question, how would He answer about you? Peter exhorted believers, “...Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh a reason of the hope that is in you.…” The phrase “be ready always” is a translation of the Greek words etoimoi aei. The word etoimoi is a form of the word etoimos, which means to be ready or to be prepared. It is an attitude that is always set to go, eager, prompt, and raring to get started. It is a perpetual mindset of being ready to get started on a project, to take on a challenge, or to take initiative of some sort. To have such a readiness also implies preparation. Inherent in this command to be ready is the idea that one must do everything in his power to equip himself for that moment when he is to be called to action. Peter says we are to be fully prepared to answer “every man” who inquires about what we believe — explaining the nature of the hope that resides in our hearts and why we believe it. The words “every man” in Greek is panti, which is an all-encompassing word that literally means every man, every individual, and every person — with no exceptions! This one statement affirms that the Gospel is for every man on the face of the earth, regardless of race, class, or color. Peter told us not to be surprised if people “ask” about our faith. In fact, we should anticipate that they will ask. This is the reason Peter urged us to be prepared and ready to answer! How ready were you to give an answer the last time someone asked you about your faith? • If you found yourself sitting next to a non-Christian who asked you about what you believe, why you believe it, and how your faith affects your life, how would you answer these questions? • How prepared are you today to give an answer to those who ask a reason for the hope that is in you? Don’t make the mistake of thinking you aren’t adequate to answer such questions because you haven’t been to seminary or Bible school. I remind you again that when Peter wrote this verse, there were no seminary or Bible school graduates with diplomas. All that was there at that time were simple, everyday Christians — just like you. They went to work and conducted their normal affairs every day. And in the process of it all, they were constantly rubbing elbows with non-Christians from every walk of life, every class of society, and every ethnic group, who asked: “What is your faith all about?” “Why do you believe what you believe?” “Can you give me the reason for the hope that is in you?” Today God is calling out to you and me, urging us to be available and always ready to give an answer to those who crave to know more about Jesus and what He has done in our lives. We are spiritually obligated to answer to those who want to know. So let me ask you: Are you available to share your testimony or to use your influence to help someone come to a personal knowledge of Jesus Christ? Are you ready to give an answer to every person who asks a reason for the hope that is in you? MY PRAYER FOR TODAY Lord, I am deeply convicted that I need to be more open about sharing my faith with non-Christians I see and talk to every day. I know they feel empty and are searching for the real reason for life. I remember how lost I felt before You came into my life and gave me a new purpose. I thank You for giving me Your compassion for those who are without Christ. Let me speak words so filled with wisdom and grace that they will minister grace and clearly explain the hope I have in Christ — a hope that they, too, can share. Thank You for causing a burning passion to grow within me to see people saved. I don’t ever want to be so busy in my own affairs that I forget people need to be saved. I don’t want to be hardhearted or uncaring about people’s eternal status. So I stir up a strong desire deep inside me to see people saved and delivered by Your power! I pray this in Jesus’ name! MY CONFESSION FOR TODAY I confess that I am deeply concerned for unsaved people — especially those that I rub elbows with every day. I accept my God-given responsibility to share Jesus with those who are lost — especially to those who appeal to me for answers regarding the reason for the hope that is in me. When people ask me, I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of God that leads to salvation; rather, I am bold, eager to answer, and ready to tell them the Good News about Jesus Christ. He has changed my life! Therefore, I am prepared at any moment to introduce others to the same saving and life-changing message that has revolutionized my life and given me a relationship with God Almighty. I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name! QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER 1. Can you think of one person you are acquainted with who needs to know Jesus Christ? Who is that person? 2. Be honest — what steps have you taken to help that one person personally know Jesus Christ? Can you truthfully tell God that you have done your part to share the truth about Jesus and of His power to save him or her? 3. If First Peter 3:15 commands us to be ready to answer every man that asks a question about the hope that is in us, what are you doing to prepare yourself so that you can answer questions about your faith, why you believe what you believe, what your faith does for you, or what the Bible teaches about Jesus Christ? What are you doing to get yourself ready to answer the questions any non-Christian may ask?

I don’t know what you’re trusting God for in this present season of your life. We are all believing for something and sowing seeds toward it. Perhaps no one knows but you because you’ve kept it between you and the Lord. Maybe it’s a financial harvest, a breakthrough in a relationship, a physical healing, or a restoration in some other area. Maybe this harvest is taking longer than you had anticipated. But I want to reassure you that God’s Word and His promises are eternal, and if you just won’t quit, it’s only a matter of time until your long-awaited blessing arrives. God’s Word is absolutely true, so I encourage you to remain steadfast and keep thanking Him for the harvest He has in store that’s been tailor-made just for you! MY PRAYER FOR TODAY Lord, I ask You to help me be patient as I wait for the seeds I’ve sown to grow and be multiplied back into my life. It seems like it has taken a long time, but I will not loosen my grip on the fixed, future harvest You have planned for me. You are the Lord of the harvest, so I fix my eyes on You and trust that You have set a season for my seeds and deeds to reach their full growth so I can enjoy the harvest of my endeavors. You are faithful; Your Word is true; and today I rest in those truths! I pray this in Jesus’ name! MY CONFESSION FOR TODAY I boldly declare that I will continue to release my faith and believe for God to multiply the seeds and deeds I have sown in the past. At times, weariness has tried to attack me, injustice has been done to me, and other outside pressures have made me feel tempted to throw in the towel. But I will not surrender to any pressure to bend, break, or give up on God’s promise that I will enter a season of reaping a harvest from the good seed I have sown. The Holy Spirit will empower me to hold tight, hang on, and remain steady and steadfast until I reap my harvest and enjoy the fruit of my faith and labor! I declare this by faith in Jesus’ name! QUESTIONS FOR YOU TO CONSIDER 1. Have you been tempted to become impatient as you wait for your seed to be multiplied back to you? Take the time to make a list of the ways you have already received a harvest on past seeds and deeds that you have sown. It will both surprise and encourage you to see how much of a harvest you have already reaped in your life from the seed you have sown in the past! 2. Seeds mature at varying speeds. Think about the fact that it just may not be time yet for some of the seeds you’ve sown to mature. If they’ve been in the soil a long time, it’s likely that your harvest is not far away. 3. Have you ever dug up your deeds and seeds sown and ruined a harvest? Have you ever been so impatient that you “pulled your ears of corn off the stalk, peeled back the husk,” and ruined a harvest all by yourself? What did you learn from that experience, and how did it affect your waiting for a harvest afterward? Your seed has a set season when it will produce, if you do not disrupt the process. As long as you stay the course, it is guaranteed that you will reap what you have planted. Sparkling Gems From The Greek Vol. 2 by Rick Renner This so blessed my soul this morning that I had to share. Be encourage because at God’s appointed time it shall come to pass.
